Objective

To measure noise generated by a refrigeration compressor in the presence of background noise.

Test Procedure

  1. This was a proof of concept test. A small motor was placed behind the probe to provide the background noise.
  2. A SenQC probe was mounted close to the area of interest on the compressor.
  3. Noise signals were captured during the compressor operation with and without the background motor running..
  4. The measured signals with background noise were De-Noised to filter out background noise and were compared to the signal without the background noise.

Results

The following screenshots show the comparison of the A-Weighted noise spectra with noise, without noise and de-noised using SenQC codes. The graphs clearly show the effectiveness of SenQC in De-Noising the signals.

The three graphs correspond to frequency ranges 20-1500 Hz, 1500 - 3000 Hz and 3000-5000 Hz. The frequency ranges were split into separate graphs for clarity.
